Create the Simple Syrup
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
2 Combine with Lemon and Salt
Pour the fresh lemon juice into a large pitcher. Add the slightly cooled simple syrup and the pinch of salt. Stir well to combine.
3 Chill and Serve
Add the remaining 5 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill. Serve over ice, garnished with lemon slices and mint leaves, if desired.
